WHAT HAPPENED?
Per the , Madrid are interested in doing a deal to sign Fernandes this summer. The Spanish club are said to have been represented at Old Trafford throughout the season, scouting Fernandes ahead of a potential swoop at the end of the season.

Fernandes has been identified as a potential long-term replacement for Luka Modric, and United are expected to hold out for a club record fee for the Portuguese; a £90 million ($116m) deal would eclipse the sale of Cristiano Ronaldo to Madrid. While United would strongly resist a sale, they may need to raise funds due to PSR concerns.
